Our Mission

Responding to a lack of easily obtainable information about one of the things each of us will have to deal with, WrappingUp.com is designed to provide comfort and confidence through clear, easy to understand information and identification with a community of like-minded individuals.

The Team

Della Churchill - CEO, Co-founder and Company Director

Della Churchill did a couple of business degrees and worked in corporate finance and foreign exchange dealing before switching to an AFTRS Film Producing degree.  She has almost twenty years experience in film and television projects as a producer, director, writer and location manager, concentrating on producing feature films in the last eight years.  Della was interested in the power of online social communities to effect change in the world and was looking to create a social media site that used screen skills with Kelly when she was first shown Diana's book.

Della is active in helping the older generation of her extended family plan for the inevitable in a gently candid way and at a comfortable pace. She has always been keen on examining ‘social norms’ and likes the idea of helping people be aware of all their choices. Since beginning work on WrappingUp.com Della has lost several relatives and friends, and experienced the frustration of grieving friends and families faced in this stressful time, which has further inspired her to provide a valuable and effective resource that's affordable to everyone.

Darryl King of ireckon - Web Developer, Company Director

Darryl King has travelled extensively, carrying his backpack around the world. He’s had experience working in a wide range of industries, particularly Sales and Marketing and is now immersed in the online world. As the founder of digital agency ireckon Pty Ltd, Darryl gets to spend time with his team focussing on innovations and solutions for businesses online.

In his “off’” time, Darryl enjoys an active lifestyle with his family. A proud Kiwi, Darryl is a huge Rugby fan, but can also be found coaching junior AFL. As someone who’s not yet been involved in wrapping up the life of a loved one he immediately saw how better use of technology and community could help people.

Kelly Chapman - Co-founder

Kelly Chapman has a degree in Cultural Studies and is a producer of feature film and online projects -  including a couple for ABC America and the BBC. On being introduced to the book Wrapping It Up - The Ultimate Guide Kelly was taken with the candid manner in which material relating to death and dying was delivered. She was also impressed by the research the book's author had undertaken .

Along with her family, Kelly wrapped her stepfather in a very personal and intimate way when he died, and lists it as one of the richest experiences of her life. He died at home, her family ran the cremation service and it was very personal. She learned during the time after his death there was no single place where information was housed for wrapping a life, and that there were many pitfalls.

Helen Wentland - Screenwriter

Helen has worked as a writer all her adult life – as a journalist in Australia, the UK, Greece and the USA, and now as a movie and TV writer. When her husband died, she wrapped his life and during the process she was grateful they had been reasonably ‘organized.’

The WrappingUp.com project is close to her heart – and she hopes it will motivate more people to take some simple – and ultimately loving - steps towards being ‘organized.’ Helen lives in Brisbane, Australia.

History

WrappingUp.com was originally based on the book “Wrapping It Up – The Ultimate Guide” by Diana Todd-Banks. Content from Todd-Banks' book has been used as the basis for some of the text and videos featured on the site. The WrappingUp.com founders, Kelly Chapman and Della Churchill's research revealed that there was a need for a site that offered practical information and social community to those who are planning ahead as well as for the recently beareaved.

Given the widespread adoption of the internet and the increasing growth of its use by people over 50, they became inspired to develop a website that covered the diversity of topics involved and opened up a secure space for community dscussion on them. The pair worked for nearly two years in research and development, that included building a prototype, then seeking feedback and refining the final website.  WrappingUp.com is now looking to expand the site to include information for those who aremoving into aged care and to create a space for those who are interested in discussing the various views on the spiritual nature of death.
